Qualification Outline:

Certificate II in Security Operations prepares security officers to manage safety and security tasks, such as patrolling and unarmed property protection. It also covers entry screening, behavior monitoring, and handling individuals on the premises. This certification is designed to meet the occupational licensing standards for roles such as an unarmed security guard or crowd controller, ensuring industry compliance and professional competency.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. Successful completion of this Security Operations Training provides the necessary competencies to apply to Victoria Police Licensing and Regulation Division for a Private Security Individual Licence for the categories of Crowd Controller and Unarmed Guard.

Entry Requirements

This course is available to students who are able to provide evidence that they:

  • have satisfactory language, literacy and numeracy
  • are over the age of 18 years
  • be a fit and proper person. This includes not having any medical condition or have no records of conviction of a disqualifying offence within the previous 10 years
  • be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold an appropriate visa with work rights in Australia

Condition of Entry For international students: 

It is a condition of entry that upon acceptance, students provide evidence of having an Australian Student Visa (subclass 500). Students are advised to refer to the government website for information.
