Qualification Outline:

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in community settings and clients’ homes who support people with disabilities to improve their independence, self-reliance, community participation and wellbeing. Workers use a person-centred approach, may contribute to individualised support plans, work with some autonomy (without direct supervision), and may supervise or coordinate small teams.

Licensing/Regulatory Information

There are no licensing, legislative, or certification requirements that are unique to this qualification at the time of publication. However, in practice, providers, workplaces, or placements may require police checks, working with vulnerable people checks, NDIS checks, vaccinations etc.

Entry Requirements

Must have one of the following as a pre-requisite:

  • CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
  • CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability)
  • CHC30408 Certificate III in Disability plus the CHCSS00125 Entry to Certificate IV in Disability Support Skill Set.

Other requirements commonly include:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have successfully completed Year 11 (or equivalent)
  • Meet the English language proficiency requirements
  • Hold a current National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or be eligible to apply)

Commitment to complete supervised work placement

Work Placement:

There is no mandatory work placement requirement specified for this qualification or its units of competency. Training and assessment can be delivered in a simulated environment that reflects real workplace conditions.
